With Thanksgiving being less than a week away, it’s time to get in gear for the holidays! Whether you host your turkey dinner or just show up to enjoy the food, it’s always fun to sneak a peek at what dishes you will be enjoying throughout your meal.

While I love turkey, I enjoy the Thanksgiving side dishes even more! I heard on The Food Network last week (as I was watching The Kitchen), that the average number of side dishes for Thanksgiving dinner is seven. Does that measure up to what’s served at your table?

My family goes all out for Thanksgiving (and I mean ALL.OUT.) My step-mom cooks one turkey the day before to carve for leftovers for everyone, and then cooks a second turkey on Thanksgiving to serve for dinner.

And the side dishes? I can guarantee there’s way more than seven — from casseroles, to different kinds of potatoes, vegetables, rice, and everything in between, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

The side dish that I usually contribute to Thanksgiving is my signature green bean casserole. It’s a crowd favorite and usually gone within minutes. But this year, I decided to switch it up a bit.

Instead of bringing the same dish, I decided to put my own spin on a classic veggie: Thanksgiving carrots! I love carrots on their own, but when they’re sautéed or roasted, they taste incredible!

Did I mention how simple these Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots are to make? Whether you’re contributing one side dish to your Thanksgiving dinner or are preparing a feast, you’ll have these veggies whipped up in no time!

So if you’re looking for a last minute side dish, why not try these Maple Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots? Fast, easy, and full of flavor, these veggies will be the side dish star of the meal!

Ingredients Needed for Brown Sugar Carrots

These brown sugar butter carrots come together with minimal ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need to make these easy glazed carrots:

  • Unsalted butter
  • Baby carrots
  • Maple syrup
  • Light brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper

How to Make Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

These brown sugar baby carrots are made in one skillet, and one skillet only. Which means that also saves you from doing more dishes! Pretty clever, huh? And from start to finish, these carrots take about 20 minutes. Which means you’re just 20 minutes away from devouring these cuties.

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet.
  2. Add carrots, maple syrup, brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Toss to combine.
  3. Sauté over medium heat until tender, about 20-25 minutes, or until carrots are tender.

Can I Make Brown Sugar Carrots in a Slow Cooker?

I’ve never made this Thanksgiving carrots recipe in the slow cooker, so I’m not sure how it would turn out.

Can I Use Regular Carrots?

If you don’t have baby carrots on hand, you’re welcome to substitute regular carrots instead. You’ll need to peel and chop the carrots into even-sized pieces before cooking them.

Tips for Making Brown Sugar Glazed Carrots

  • These brown sugar and maple glazed carrots should be made with pure maple syrup, NOT pancake syrup.
  • I used orange baby carrots in this brown sugar butter carrots recipe, but you can substitute tri-color carrots, if desired.
  • I prefer making these easy glazed carrots the same day I plan on serving them. This way, the carrots will be tender but not totally mushy when you’re ready to serve them!
