Can I just take a minute and talk about my dog? Well, my dog and Halloween, since today’s recipe is all about that candy-licious, popcorn goodness.
You probably remember by now (especially if you follow me on Snap Chat and browse my Instagram Stories) that my new pup, Callie, and I are pretty much inseparable.
Since I work from home, we’re together all day, unless I’m out and about running errands and things like that. It’s been a while since I’ve had a dog, and I am so loving being a dog mom!
Since Callie has a lot of energy, one of our favorite morning activities is going to the dog park! We’re fortunate enough to have a park about 5 minutes from our house, so Callie and I usually drive over there in the mornings and stay for for an hour or two. And what’s even better is that there’s a whole group of people, usually anywhere from 4-8 people, that show up with their dogs in the mornings for play time.
Callie looks forward to this every day. In fact, she knows when it’s time to go. That dog is smart! And if we don’t go for some reason, she mopes around. Yep, mopes.
So, I try my hardest to head out the door with her every morning for her play time. And she loves it! She runs with the other dogs and tries to get them to chase her, or vice versa. I can literally see Callie smiling from ear to ear when she’s in the park.
We’re still working on her training, though, and she’s getting better! So, I’m toying with the idea of walking her around on Halloween in her special costume. But, I can already foresee the future…she’s going to go nutty with all of the kids around!
Do you dress up your furry friends for Halloween? And if so, do you walk them around the neighborhood?
Maybe I’ll just take Callie for a quick walk, and then dash inside to enjoy more of this popcorn…

Yep, I LOVE peanut butter too…this sounds like it’s completely addicting! I would devour it!
And sadly, we don’t dress up our dog for Halloween. I think I tried the first year that we owned her (she wasn’t having it), and then kids came along and our attention was diverted — lucky for the dog! 🙂
Have a great weekend, Gayle!
I’m sure your dog is glad he escaped the costume debacle! 🙂 I’ve decided not to try that with my dog this year…I think she would go nuts seeing all of the kids walking around, so it would last all of 2 seconds. But, I did get her a cute little zip up jacket for the winter! 🙂 Thanks for the kinds words, friend!
Awww…..sounds like you and your fur baby have a great time together!! And you know what, they are pretty smart! My little guy is the same way. He knows when I’m getting ready to go even before I have a jacket or anything on. I really think he understands my clothes. Like, if I have my lounge wear on, he knows that I’m probably not going anywhere. I don’t know how he knows, but he do. So funny 😀 My little guy is pretty attached to me too and wouldn’t have it any other way 😉 I love your peanut butter candy popcorn! I could eat popcorn pretty much everyday and this recipe is such a special version for Halloween or some random Friday, lol. What a great way to use those leftover candies. There’s always some left and this would be perfect. Pinned, of course! Have a great weekend, my friend!
YES! I think my dog knows my clothes habit, too. Smart little dogs! 🙂 Sounds like your little guy is a cutie! Thanks for the popcorn love and pin, friend!
Awwww your pup sounds absolutely adorable!! And this popcorn is literally making me DROOL right now and totally crave popcorn for breakfast! Love that it’s basically like a snack/dessert all rolled into one!
Thank you, Sarah! I think popcorn for breakfast is acceptable! 🙂
This would be soooo dangerous for me. But I wouldn’t let that stop me from making it!! And your pup sounds sooo sweet. My dog is the same way, except that she also has major anxiety, so she gets really excited to go out and see people and then freaks out when she actually sees them… We’re working on it 🙂
Aww your pup sounds cute, too! Thanks for the kind words, Sues!
What a fun popcorn recipe Gayle, peanut butter makes everything better!
Thanks, Manali!
Dogs are THE BEST! I’m probably biased since Boy and I can’t have children that only walk on 2 legs, but honestly, fur children are like real children if you ask me. I know we spoil ours rotten and I just could not imagine my life without them. We do dress our dogs up for Halloween, but we have never walked them around the neighborhood… we just let them answer the door when trick or treat-ers come. 🙂 Kids LOVE it! You will HAVE to post pictures of Callie in her costume!!!! Anyways, this popcorn is bomb dot com, Gayle!! I’m a pop-aholic, and your version is so FUN!!!! I mean peanut butter coated popcorn tossed with candy?!? GENIUS! This is the perfect way to use up all that Halloween candy! Or it would be great to have out if your hosting a spook-tastic bash!! Pinned of course! Cheers, friend!
I completely agree, fur children are just like real children! And even though we’ve only had Callie for two months, I couldn’t imagine life without her, either. You have to share pics of your dog in costume, too! And thanks for the popcorn love, friend!
Gayle, I SO loved hearing about your lil Callie. She sounds so adorable and sweet. 🙂 Isn’t it just the best feeling when she grins at you from ear to ear? <3 It must be the most wonderful thing to have her by your side as you work–best coworker ever. Just sayin'. 😉 Meanwhile, thank you G for creating such an amazing Halloween treat that simply has ALL the things I love in one recipe. Send over three buckets, would ya? Pinning and sharing, of course! Have an awesome weekend my friend! xo
Thank you, Demeter! I love seeing my dog happy and having her by my side! 🙂 And thank you for the popcorn love, too. I would definitely send you some if I could! 🙂

Thank you, Kelly! I can’t wait for Callie to wear her winter coat! 🙂
Wait until my kids see this, Gayle! Seriously, they’re going to go nuts. And my husband can probably be found hounding me to make this until I get ‘er done. Your new pup sounds so sweet! I bet all of the neighborhood kiddos would get a huge kick out of seeing her in her costume 🙂
Thanks for the kind words, Stephanie! I think everyone would love seeing my pup in costume, if only she would behave! 🙂

It’s funny how dogs get into their routines and when things change they get on your case! They do act like humans sometimes. haha This popcorn is so fun and I love that you added peanut butter…it makes everything better!
Yes! They definitely act like humans sometimes. Thanks, Marcie!

Gayle, I love the relationship that you and your dog have! This makes me want one SO badly, but my complex doesn’t allow pets :(. Time to move hahaha. So cute! Also, this candy popcorn – BRILLIANT idea!!
Thank you, Jessica! Hopefully you will be able to have a dog someday soon! 🙂 And thanks for the popcorn love!
The only thing better than popcorn + candy is adding peanut butter. LOVE this!! Wish I could meet your sweet dog she sounds adorable!
YES to peanut butter! 🙂 Thanks for the sweet comment, Karen!
