Salsa Tuna Melt
This Salsa Tuna Melt is full of flavor and comes together in minutes. Packed with Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore, zesty salsa, and cream cheese, this easy meal is a lighter version of the classic dish!
Remember when I mentioned my new kindle last week?
I’ve kinda-sorta fallen in love with it. I thought I would use it more for surfing the internet or finding a new ideas on Pinterest, but I was wrong.
My kindle has “rekindled” my love for reading. I used to read all the time when I was younger. Growing up, I was always checking out books from the library or adding a new favorite to my collection. And I’m totally going to date myself, but “The Babysitter’s Club” was my favorite series! I even started my own club with my best-friend when we were little…but that’s a story for another day.
Anyways, although I still love to read, life gets busy and I usually don’t pick up a book unless I’m on an airplane or relaxing on the beach.
But when I started using my kindle, it made me want to carve time out of my day just to read. Kind of like an incentive to start a new book. After all, it is fun to read a book electronically. Even though I still love to hold an actual book and smell the pages, it’s exciting to have books right at your fingertips from a kindle.
And once I start reading a book, I get sucked in. I have to keep reading it and often finish books in a day or two.
Since I’ve discovered my new-found love for reading, I’ve incorporated it into my nightly routine. I often relax with a cup of tea and my kindle for about an hour before I go to bed and just read. It really relaxes me and gives me some “me” time.
Since I’m loving my kindle so much, I’ve decided to take a break (or two) during the day to read. This gets my mind off of blog tasks and helps me refresh, something I definitely need! So when I took a break last week, I decided to whip up a clean-eating recipe to munch on while I read my latest book.
Something that I always keep stocked in my pantry is Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore in Water. With the light texture and fresh taste, this tuna is the perfect ingredient to incorporate into just about any recipe. It also adds a variety of nutrients, such as healthy fat, lean protein, vitamins and minerals. In fact, if you want to learn more, you can visit the Bumble Bee® website for full nutritional facts.
So I guess it’s no surprise that this tuna is often my go-to lunch, right? From the moment I pop open the can of Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore in Water, I can see the quality ingredients, just waiting to be used in a variety of recipes. And that’s where this tuna melt comes in.
This Salsa Tuna Melt is full of flavor and comes together in minutes. Packed with tuna, zesty salsa, and cream cheese, this easy meal is a lighter version of the classic dish!
Besides being slightly healthier than a regular tuna melt, this version is flavored with Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore, a touch of cream cheese, and salsa. Just three easy ingredients, plus some cheese, that tops the English muffins and gets toasted to perfection. How about that for clean eating?
Like most of my recipes, this Salsa Tuna Melt is a breeze to whip up! But you knew that was coming, right? Simply mix together some low-fat cream cheese and salsa. Gently fold in the Bumble Bee® Solid White Albacore and spread onto halved English muffin slices. Top the muffins with some shredded cheese and then broil until melted.
Within minutes, this easy meal is ready to be devoured. And it’s also a meal that you can feel good about eating. With simple, quality ingredients, this Salsa Tuna Melt makes a delicious lunch, dinner, or late night snack. It also makes the perfect companion for when I’m sucked into reading my kindle!

Simple and quick to do! That’s always a win in my book. This looks super tasty! I would love to devour that pan of them right now 😉
I was really into my Kindle and then I just kind of forgot to charge it, and then I was back to books. 🙂 But it’s a really cool thing!
I love tuna melts on English muffins. And the salsa is a fantastic addition!
I just love being able to download new books right away. I just finished a really good book last night and already started another one…instant gratification at its finest! 🙂
Such a clever little twist on a classic… I never think to make tuna melts, but I will now, with the addition of salsa! Love it!
Thank you, Annie! The salsa gives it a nice kick of flavor!
when I ate fish, a tuna melt was always my go to for a quick and filling meal. I love that you have mixed salsa in to it too – salsa makes everything better 🙂
Thank you, Dannii! Salsa does make everything better! 🙂
No way!! The Babysitter’s Club books were my favorite series as a kid too! I totally still own nearly every single one. LOL. And this tuna melt? Well, it looks like my lunch today is staring me in the face. Love how you kicked things up with salsa!
I wish I would’ve kept all of my books! I think I gave them away years ago, oh well. Thanks for the kind words, Sarah!
I loved the Babysitter’s Club too!!! Reading this post really makes me want to schedule time for myself to read during the day! I read as much as I can, but when I get busy I tend to forget about it. The sound of reading with a cup of tea sounds so relaxing and just what I need to unwind at night! Anyway, tuna melts are one of my favorite things ever and I never would have thought to add salsa! Have a great weekend, Gayle!
It’s so hard to keep up with reading when you’re busy! But it’s so nice when you take the time to do so…I get sucked in every night and I forgot how much I love to read! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words, Keri! Hope you have a great weekend, too!
I love reading, too! Good for you for carving out time to do so. These sound delicious!
I am a vegetarian so might not be able to comment on the taste of the recipe loved your presentation and picture!!!
Love tuna melts and these look perfect! I enjoy reading but it has been so hard to do it lately, I always seem to find something else to do 🙂 Need to try your strategy and take a couple of breaks and do it during the day 🙂
Thank you, Mira! It’s definitely hard to find some time during the day to read, but I try to make it my goal to do it at least once or twice a week! 🙂
Adding salsa to a tuna melt is such a great idea. Will have to try this for lunch sometime!
Thank you, Christin! It makes a delicious lunch! 🙂
I love reading, but I had so many that it was starting to look like the land that time forgot, so I switched over to a kindle. ???? Plus lugging around a kindle is so much easier than those huge Outlander novels.
This tuna melt looks delicious. I get into such a rut with tuna. I always mix in the same thing. But I love all the salsa and cheese/cream cheese in here. Can’t wait to try it!
I love the convenience of a kindle, too! And I usually make the same kind of tuna too, so it’s nice to switch it up! Thanks for the kind words, Amanda!
I think I need to get a kindle too! Because I used to love reading when I was younger, somehow I don’t read at all these days! Have a lovely weekend Gayle, I love the addition of salsa in this recipe!
Thanks, Manali! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, too!
What a delicious twist on one of my favorite sandwiches! I grew up eating tuna melts, and since it’s now Lent, I’ve added them back into our rotation even more often. This looks great!
Thank you, Blair! This is a nice change from the regular tuna melts!
I used to read a ton growing up and slowed to a halt as I got older. I picked it up a few years back and am waiting to get the Girl on the Train like you recommended! 🙂 I love tuna melts, and that salsa-cream cheese mixture sounds like such a zesty, creamy spread!
I am really hooked on reading again lately…I forgot how much I love it! Thanks for the tuna love, Marcie!
I love tuna cheese melts! This looks delicious, Gayle! Never thought of adding salsa, but I’ll definitely try that soon! 🙂
Thank you, Jess!
I love my Kindle. I used to bag on the fact that it only had books but then I realized how much more I enjoyed my books when I didn’t have to fight notifications or Facebook! Also, wow, I need this as a midnight snack now. My stomach says salsa tuna melt for the win!
Thank you, Mary Frances!
Loving the salsa in these tuna melts more than I can say – this is a genius idea!
