Baked French Toast Sticks make an easy breakfast that's loaded with flavor. You can have these ready to serve in no time, with a side of syrup for dunking!
Servings: 18 french toast sticks
Cinnamon sugar topping:
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
French toast sticks:
- 6 slices Texas toast (or other thick bread, such as challah)
- 1/2 cup milk , any kind (I used 2%)
- 3 eggs
- 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
Preheat oven to 350F. Line a large baking pan with parchment paper or grease well with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a small bowl, whisk white sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
Cut each slice of bread into 3 strips. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, whisk milk, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla bean paste, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Dunk each slice of bread into egg mixture, letting excess drip off. Place onto prepared pan and sprinkle each stick with half of cinnamon sugar topping.
Bake for 10 minutes, remove from oven, flip sticks to opposite side and sprinkle with the rest of cinnamon sugar topping. Return to oven and bake for 10-12 more minutes, or until french toast sticks are cooked through and golden brown.
Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Serve with syrup for dunking, if desired.
