Peppermint French Toast is fun, festive, and easy to make. With just a few ingredients and minimal prep time, this easy breakfast recipe is perfect for the holidays!

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup milk
  • cups half-and-half
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract)
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices challah or Texas toast
  • Butter for skillet
  • Crushed candy canes, whipped cream, chocolate sauce for topping if desired

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk milk, half-and-half, eggs, sugar, vanilla, peppermint extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  • Dip bread into egg mixture and lightly press down to coat both sides. Let excess drip off before placing onto skillet.
  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Transfer bread to skillet and cook on each side for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Repeat with rest of bread slices.
  • Serve immediately with crushed candy canes, whipped cream, and/or chocolate sauce, if desired.
