Ingredients

  • 2 (12.4) cans cinnamon rolls (8-count)
  • 1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling

Streusel Topping:

  • ¼ cup cold, unsalted butter (cut into small cubes)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Open each can of cinnamon rolls, setting the icing to the side. Cut each roll into 6 pieces; then cut each piece in half. Places cinnamon roll pieces into a large bowl.
  • Add half of the can of apple pie filling to the cinnamon roll pieces and stir to combine. Spread into prepared baking dish. Set aside. (See note below)
  • In a medium bowl, add the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. Place the cubed, cold butter into the bowl and using a fork or your hands, cut the butter into the flour mixture so that it resembles coarse sand.
  • Top cinnamon roll pieces with half of the streusel mixture; followed by the remaining half of apple pie filling. Stir to combine. Then top with the rest of streusel mixture.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until cinnamon rolls are cooked through and golden. Drizzle icing on top before serving.

Notes

  • I like to roughly chop the canned apples so that they're  in smaller pieces and are  easier to eat.
  • Leftovers will last in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  • To make this ahead of time, prepare everything according to directions but do not bake. Store in the refrigerator for up to 16 hours in advance. When ready to bake, let dish come to room temperature for about 15 minutes and then bake according to the directions.
