If you thought the air fryer was just for savory recipes (like these garlic parmesan potatoes or that chicken breast), I’m here to prove you wrong.

This easy air fryer banana bread recipe is a simple and delicious dessert that you can make in no time. In fact, this banana recipe cooks faster in an air fryer than in the oven, and turns out just as good. 

So, yes, using an air fryer for desserts is not only possible, but it’s quicker to cook and fun to use!

What’s the Difference Between the Air Fryer Banana Recipe and Using an Oven?

Basically, the only two differences are the size of loaf and the cooking time. This recipe makes 2-3 mini loafs, while a regular banana bread recipe would most likely yield one regular loaf.

And the cooking time is faster! A lot of recipes bake for at least an hour, but this one cooks in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients in Air Fryer Banana Bread:

  • Ripe bananas
  • Granulated sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Unsalted butter
  • Egg
  • Heavy cream
  • Maple syrup
  • Vanilla
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

How to Make Air Fryer Banana Bread:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 320°F. Spray 2-3 mini loaf pans with cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the mashed banana, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, egg, heavy cream, syrup and vanilla until combined.
  3. Add the flour and baking soda to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  4. Pour batter into prepared loaf pans and place inside the air fryer. Cook for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into center of loaves. comes out clean.
  5. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack and let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

What if I don’t Have a Mini Loaf Pan?

Need a loaf pan? I used this one. However, you can also use a 6-inch cake pan for the banana bread instead.

How Long Will This Last?

This bread will last in an airtight container at room temperature for up to four days. Alternatively, you can store in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Can I Freeze This Bread?

Absolutely! Store loaves in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to three months.

Variations of The Best Banana Bread:

  • Add some chocolate chips; peanut butter chips; walnuts; or even toffee bits for more flavor.
  • Add a swirl of Nutella or peanut butter.
  • Before baking, add cinnamon streusel (use the streusel topping in this recipe!) to the top for extra deliciousness.

Tips for Making This Moist Banana Bread Recipe:

  • If you have time, let the egg and heavy cream come to room temperature before using. Though it’s not necessary, it will help with the texture of the bread.
  • Be sure to grease your mini pans with cooking spray so that it’s easier to remove once cooked.
  • This recipe cooks at a lower temperature than an oven loaf because of how fast the air fryer works. If you increase the temperature, the tops will cook too quickly, while the insides will be underbaked. 
  • Once you remove the loaves from the air fryer, let cool in the pan for 10 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • ¾ cup mashed ripe bananas, (about 1½ bananas)
  • ¼ cup granulated white sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste, (or vanilla extract)
  • cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions
 

  • Preheat air fryer to 320°F. Spray 2-3 mini loaf pans with cooking spray. Set aside.

Notes

  • Recipe was tested using my 5.8 quart Air Fryer.
  • If you don’t have mini loaf pans, you can put the batter into a 6-inch cake pan instead.
  • You can make 2 larger mini loaves or 3 thinner mini loaves. My air fryer only fit 2 so I opted for 2 loaves. You may need to cook your loaves in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
