Packed with creamy yogurt, fresh berries, granola and honey, this Berry Honey Yogurt Parfait recipe is a delicious way to start your mornings off right. By sprinkling the parfait with Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder, you can feel good packing your breakfast with nutritious ingredients!
A few weeks ago, the hubster and I woke up around 1:30 am to the sound of howling (more like screeching) coyotes somewhere behind our house. I was confused and somewhat scared at first, as I’ve never really heard a coyote howl, at least like that. My arm went up to poke the hubster, when he turned and asked if I heard the noise.
The coyotes sounded pretty close to our house, and were barking repeatedly, in a high-pitched screech. We also heard a dog barking, though we couldn’t tell where the dog was. Luckily, the barking and screeching stopped a few minutes later. And, hopefully, that meant the dog was safe inside and the coyotes were far, far away.
Now, I don’t live in a rural area, but coyotes have been known to make their way around my part of the neighborhood. It’s mainly due to the fact that there are some wooded areas around my house and a forest preserve not too far off. So, the occasional coyote sighting is not necessarily rare, but still surprises me every time. Especially when I heard their shrieking.
After the coyotes retreated elsewhere, it took me a while to fall back to sleep. And since that happened on a Sunday night, I was not too happy to get up on Monday morning. And when I’m a grouch in the mornings, which, let’s face it, happens pretty much every day since I am not a morning person, breakfast usually doesn’t happen.
I’ve gotten better with eating breakfast lately, but some mornings, I skip it altogether or opt for some tea or coffee instead. So to keep myself on the right track of eating better, I challenged myself to eat better breakfasts for seven days in a row.
And thanks to Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder and Ready-To-Drink Bottles, I can keep my breakfast goals in sight. Because the powder and bottles come in delicious flavors, I look forward the first meal of the day. And thanks to the variety that’s available at Walmart, I stocked up on my last shopping trip!

By sprinkling the parfait with Carnation Breakfast Essentials® Powder, you can feel good packing your breakfast with nutritious ingredients!

- Then, top with some granola, followed by a drizzle of honey.

I told you breakfast couldn’t get much easier than this! So if you’re looking to stay on track with your eating habits, this breakfast parfait was made for you! Filled with fresh and protein-packed ingredients, you’ll be whipping up this parfait all year long!
Can I Meal Prep This Recipe?
You’re likely fine to prep the fruit and yogurt parfait the night before you plan on eating it. I wouldn’t assemble it much further in advance than that, otherwise the granola will turn soggy.
Can I Use a Different Sweetener?
Of course! I used honey, but maple syrup or agave will also work. Use whatever you have on hand.
Yogurt Parfait Variations to Try
- Use a different yogurt: You can use a different flavor of Greek yogurt, or you can substitute your favorite plant-based yogurt to suit your dietary needs.
- Use different fruits: I love making mixed berry parfaits, but any finely chopped fruit will work!
- Switch up the granola: Buy different store-bought granolas, or make your own. Some of my favorites are Pumpkin Spice Granola, Strawberry Peanut Butter Granola,Banana Bread Granola, and Apple Pie Granola.

I want this tasty-fresh breakfast. When I lived in santa fe I was freaked out by coyotes on many an occasion!
Gayle says
I always had a fear of coyotes when I was little (and I never saw them then) so it’s ironic that I hear them now as an adult! 🙂
Cheyanne @ No Spoon Necessary says
We hear coyotes pretty regularly around here, and they still startle me every time. My husband is quick to grab our dog if we are outside and drag her in the house… although since she is a husky she likes to howl back at them, like it’s some game. lol. Anyways, LOVING this parfait! SO pretty! Plus it looks absolutely delicious! Love the honey, berries and granola combo! Great way to start the day! Cheers, my dear!
Gayle says
Haha sounds like your dog and the coyotes have a competition going on! 🙂 Thanks for the kind words, friend!

Oh yes, we’ve woken to that sound and it’s pretty scary – especially the first time you experience it. Love this parfait, Gayle! And I can’t help but wonder if the red, white and blue was a subconscious decision because of President’s Day? Love it!
Gayle says
Oh I like your thinking, Annie! I didn’t even realize it was President’s Day when I scheduled this recipe. Thanks for the kind words!

Ashley | The Recipe Rebel says
I’ve been wanting to try these! So many times in the morning I need something quick and packed with protein to get me going. And we live in the middle of a bush, so coyotes are definitely around, but I think with time I’ve gotten so used to them (and the train that’s nearby!) that I hardly even notice. My two young kids on the other hand…. Lol
Gayle says
This is such a great way to get some protein and a delicious breakfast! And we have train tracks near us too…I actually don’t mind the sound of it at all! Thanks for the kind words, Ashley!
Kelly says
I think I would have a tough time falling back asleep too. I’m such a wimp haha. So glad you had these nutritional parfaits to fuel up with though. They look gorgeous and I love all the layers
Gayle says

Gayle says
Haha snow plows wake us up too! The joys of living in the midwest…for me anyways 🙂 Thanks, Lauren!

Supposedly we have coyotes around here, but I’ve never heard one. The first time I ever heard a coyote was on a trip to Colorado. They were nuts there.
I love parfaits, and this one looks so cute! There’s nothing like starting the day with granola and nice thick Greek yogurt.
Gayle says
Thanks, Amanda! I agree…yogurt is the best way to start the day! 🙂

Jayne says
What do you do with the Honey?
Gayle says
Hi Jayne! I’m so sorry, I completely forgot to add the honey to the instructions part! Thank you for pointing that out…I’ve updated the instructions. To add the honey, I just add 1 tablespoon on top of the granola, followed by the berries, and then repeat with the second layer. Hope this helps and enjoy!
