Air Fryer Cheesy Garlic Bread

It’s been a while since I’ve made homemade garlic bread.  And I’m not sure why, because it’s super simple and super delicious…and much better than the frozen garlic bread!

And garlic, I’m a huge fan of garlic. A lot of my recipes contain garlic, and for good reason. It just seems to make everything taste just a little better.

The best thing about this French bread garlic bread is that it’s a simple recipe that will quickly become a family favorite. With Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, and Colby jack cheese, you can be sure get that ooey-gooey melted cheese in every bite.

Another delicious part of this air fryer garlic bread is the addition of basil pesto. It gives this bread a kick of flavor that is oh-so good.

And easy. So easy! By using an air fryer, you’re cutting down on the time it takes for this French baguette to cook. I’ve made garlic bread in both the oven and air fryer, and while both ways are tasty, the air fryer seems to get the bread extra crisp (and takes less time).

The garlic mixture and blend of cheeses is a favorite way to get all of that cheesy goodness in one slice. It’s fast, fresh, and ready in just 15 minutes.

Crispy and crunchy on the outside, soft and cheesy in the center, this really does make an easy side dish or quick snack. I love to serve this dish with this instant pot spaghetti or this easy lasagna. This tasty recipe is perfect for pasta night!

Ingredients in Air Fryer Cheesy Garlic Toast:

  • French bread
  • Unsalted butter
  • Minced garlic
  • Basil pesto
  • Shredded mozzarella, Parmesan, and Colby jack cheeses
  • Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (if desired)

How to Make Air Fryer Garlic Bread Recipe:

  1. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (if your air fryer has this function). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or line with air fryer parchment paper (just incase cheese bubbles over).
  2. Place the bread slices in the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes to get the bread crisp. You will need to work in batches.
  3. As bread is cooking, in a microwaveable safe small bowl, melt butter and then add minced garlic and pesto to it, stirring well to combine. Spread mixture onto each slice of bread once it’s done cooking.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix mozzarella, Parmesan, and Colby Jack cheeses together. Sprinkle a generous helping onto each slice of bread and then sprinkle each slice with Italian seasoning.
  5. Working in batches, place slices into air fryer basket (being careful not to overlap) and cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until cheese is melted. Repeat with rest of slices. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.

Can I Use Garlic Powder?

Absolutely! You can use a combination minced garlic and garlic powder, or even use some fresh garlic cloves.

How Long Will This Cheesy Garlic Bread Last?

Store leftover garlic bread in an airtight container or covered with aluminum foil in the refrigerator for up to four days.

How Do I Reheat The Bread?

You can reheat this in the air fryer at 370°F for about 3-4 minutes, or until warmed through and cheese is melty. Alternatively, you can use the microwave until the cheese is melty.

Can I Freeze This?

You can, although it won’t last as long as other freezer-safe dishes because of the cheese. Store garlic bread in a freezer-safe container for up to two months. When ready to serve, thaw in the refrigerator and then reheat in the air fryer.

Can I Make This Garlic Bread in The Oven?

You can, although cooking times will vary. You could also use a toaster oven, though cooking times and temps will vary.

Variations to Try:

  • Switch up the bread! Instead of using traditional garlic bread, try ciabatta, Italian bread, or Texas toast instead.
  • Add a sprinkling of fresh herbs! Rosemary, oregano, or basil would be a delicious addition.
  • Experiment with cheese! Shredded cheddar or Swiss cheese would give this a fun kick!
  • Add cream cheese! Add a few tablespoons of cream cheese to the butter mixture for a richer taste.
  • Red pepper flakes! A sprinkling on top of the crusty bread will give this a tasty twist!

Tips for Making the Best Garlic Cheese Bread:

  • Make sure to place the garlic bread slices in a single layer in your air fryer basket. You don’t want to overcrowd the air fryer, otherwise the air won’t be able to circulate as well, which will result in a soggier bread.
  • If you have thick slices of bread, the cooking times may vary, so watch the air fryer carefully so that the bread doesn’t burn.
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or line with parchment paper for easy cleanup.

What Pairs Well with Cheesy Garlic Bread?

  1. Easy Baked Spaghetti
  2. Instant Pot Creamy Chicken Pasta
  3. Baked Tortellini with Meat Sauce
  4. Chicken Alfredo Pasta Bake
  5. Creamy Ground Beef Pasta
