Soup season is officially here! Well, it’s been here for some time, but now that it’s cold out, bring on the soup!

If you’ve been hanging around here long enough, then you know that I’m a major soup lover. From this One Pot Chicken Fajita Soup, to this French Onion Soup, and that Easy Cream of Mushroom, I love it all.

In fact, I can (and do!) eat soup when it’s 95 degrees out. I just loving warming up with a bowl of something hearty and hot. Mmm mmm good!

I never used to be the biggest fan of tomato soup, especially growing up. I could eat it, but usually only when paired with grilled cheese, and I definitely wouldn’t finish the bowl. Luckily, I’ve wised up over the years and love the smooth and rich taste. It’s almost a necessity whenever I make sandwiches!

And ever since I made this Creamy Tomato Soup last fall, I’ve been hooked on my homemade version. And that’s how I got the idea to make this Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup for 30 Minute Thursday!

With a soup that takes less than 30 minutes to make and simple ingredients, how could you not love this bowl of deliciousness?

This creamy tortellini soup is the perfect kind of comfort food for cold, winter days. Loaded with cheese tortellini, herbs, and made in one pot, you can have this rich and flavorful soup ready in less than thirty minutes!

Did I mention that this soup is easy to make? Because it is…oh-so easy and oh-so delicious! The base for the tomato soup is creamy, rich, and bursting with herbs, garlic, and a smooth tomato flavor. And the cheese tortellini…yum! It adds the perfect heartiness to the soup, making it extra tasty.

And this tomato basil tortellini soup is made in just one pot! You really can’t get much easier than that. Simply throw the ingredients together and let the soup simmer away. Easy, peasy!

So now that the cold (and possibly) snow is setting in, you’ve got to try this Creamy Tomato Tortellini Soup. It will warm you up and fill you with lots of deliciousness. And grilled cheese or a loaf of crusty bread is encouraged when serving this soup!

Ingredients Needed for Tomato Tortellini Soup

This easy tortellini soup comes together with minimal ingredients, but packs in maximum flavor! Here’s what goes into this tomato tortellini soup:

  • Condensed tomato soup
  • Tomato paste
  • Low-sodium chicken broth
  • Garlic
  • Italian seasoning
  • Dried basil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Unsalted butter
  • Milk
  • Fresh cheese tortellini

How to Make Tomato Tortellini Soup

There’s almost no prep work involved in this tomato basil tortellini soup recipe! Here are the basic steps for making it:

  1. Combine the condensed soup, tomato paste, chicken broth, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, dried basil, salt and pepper.
  2. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add butter and milk.
  4. Add tortellini to soup and cook according to package directions.

Can I Use Another Type of Tortellini?

I’m sure you could! I love using cheese tortellini in this creamy tortellini soup, but I bet another flavor would work perfectly well.

How to Store Tomato Tortellini Soup

Store this tomato basil tortellini soup in an airtight container in the fridge. It’ll last up to 5 days.

Tips for Making Creamy Tortellini Soup

  • Note that this recipe calls for condensed tomato soup. If you buy regular tomato soup, your tortellini soup will turn out too runny.
  • You can use any kind of milk you’d like in this recipe. I used 2%, but anything will work!
  • To make this a completely vegetarian tortellini soup, use veggie broth instead of chicken broth.

I could eat soup year round too too, Gayle! And this one looks fabulous! Love the tortellini in there to give it a little somethin' somethin' :) And you really can't beat the combination of tomato and basil. One of the best! I'll often make a big batch of soup on Sunday and hubby and I will eat throughout the week for lunch or dinner and it looks like this one will certainly have to go on the list. Pinned of course. Another winner for sure :) Love it!

Lol. So glad you wised up about soup, G! Same here. Growing up, I was not the biggest fan of soup... I mean, it's no pizza, right? ;) But now that I'm older, I can definitely appreciate a great big bowl of soup with a nicely toasted slice of bread. Speaking of which, I'm now officially drooling over your creamy soup! Love the addition of tortellini and that beautiful sprinkling of toppings. If I have to spend one more second reading about how smooth and rich this is, I'll just faint from hunger! Love it, my friend. Happy weekend! Pinned. xo
